專業背景
李律師於 2007 年於香港一家頂尖地產法律事務所完成訴訟部門之實習,並取得香港執業律師資格。
其後,李律師加入香港律政司服務達 15 年。初期任職於商業訴訟組,其後獲調任至新成立之入境訴訟團隊,專責處理香港當時新穎且複雜之難民法律議題。李律師深度參考英國行政法原則,積極參與並塑造香港現代難民法律制度與程序框架。

商業及物業訴訟
代表原告處理網絡釣魚詐騙糾紛,成功向某英國大型零售銀行申請並取得 Norwich Pharmacal披露令,並於詐騙集團轉移資金前成功追回部分款項。
於 Li Wai Chun Transportation Ltd v Chang Man Shan Yvette (2023) 案中代表原告,成功取得附屬披露令,以配合香港法院頒布之全球資產凍結令 ,針對涉嫌挪用公司資金的前董事,並就其未有遵守披露令啟動後續之藐視法庭程序。

於 Tse Pui Hang & Ors v One Heritage Property Rental Limited & Ors (2025) 案中代表香港原告,就涉嫌龐氏騙局且資金最終流向英國上市公司之案件進行資產追蹤,並成功反駁被告人提出之剔除訴訟申請。
於兩宗抗辯訴訟中,成功代表批租業權持有人 (Leaseholders) 取得大廈之永久業權 (Freehold)。
公法、行政法及入境法
於香港高等法院及上訴法庭著名案例 Harjang Singh v Secretary for Security and Another (2022) 中代表答辯人出庭辯護;該案確立了香港關於入境拘留在法律上是否屬「合理」之核心法律原則。
於 Mohammaded Akbar v Director of Immigration (HCAL 213/15 & CACV 97/17) 案中出庭代表答辯人出庭抗辯,成功說服駁回就受養人簽證被拒所提出之司法複核及其上訴。
於 RAI RAJENDRA KUMAR v Director of Immigration (載於 [2019] 5 HKLRD 410) 案中成功代表入境事務處辯護,捍衛當局對非真實及非持續婚姻關係之拒批受養人簽證決定。
成功協助多名具香港或英國刑事案底等複雜背景之客戶取得 BN(O) 簽證、未婚伴侶家庭/受養人簽證及英國永久居留權。
成功代表因政治迫害(香港)及性取向(中東地區)之人士於英國取得政治庇護;現正代表來自中國內地之宗教信仰者處理其英國庇護申請。
勞工及僱傭法
於 Hoffman and Greenbaum v Finalto Group Limited and Gopher Investment (2026) 案中擔任被告方之企業內部法律顧問。原告提出高達 2,000 萬英鎊之解僱損害及期權損失索償;法院最終全盤駁回對第二被告之索償,並大幅削減第一被告之賠償金額至約 250 萬英鎊。
成功代表一名英籍白人客戶就種族歧視向僱主索償,並達成六位數字英鎊之和解協議。
協助一名香港客戶就患病期間遭解僱提出殘疾歧視索償,成功取得高五位數字英鎊之和解協議。

Sunny H.S. Li is a dual-qualified* solicitor with over 20 years of extensive legal practice across Hong Kong and England. He provides tailored advice and strategic representation to individual and corporate clients across complex contentious and non-contentious matters.
In addition to his busy dispute resolution and immigration practice, Sunny serves as a legal consultant on an annual retainer basis for a leading fintech firm. He also acts as a freelance consultant for non-contentious commercial and corporate clients.
Sunny qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2007 following his training in the litigation department of a leading property law firm in Hong Kong.
He subsequently joined the Department of Justice of Hong Kong, where he served for 15 years. Beginning in the Commercial Litigation team, Sunny was later selected to join the newly established Immigration team to address the novel and complex refugee and asylum issues in Hong Kong. Drawing heavily on UK administrative law principles, he actively participated in shaping the legal and procedural framework governing modern Hong Kong refugee and asylum laws.
Commercial & Property Litigation
Acted for the Claimant in a phishing fraud dispute, successfully obtaining a Norwich Pharmacal disclosure order against a major UK high street bank. Successfully recovered a partial refund before the fraudulent entity could dissipate the funds.
Representing the Claimant in Li Wai Chun Transportation Ltd v Chang Man Shan Yvette (2023). Successfully secured mirror ancillary disclosure orders supporting both English and Hong Kong Worldwide Freezing Injunctions against a former director who was alleged to have misappropriated company funds, as well as advancing subsequent contempt proceedings for non-compliance.
Representing multiple purchasers affected by substantial completion delays across several X1 Development projects, including insolvency and administration of X1 Manchester Waters. See press report here where Sunny was interviewed.
Represented the Hong Kong claimant in Tse Pui Hang & Ors v One Heritage Property Rental Limited & Ors (2025), tracing assets ending up in a UK-listed entity arising from an alleged Ponzi scheme and successfully resisting the Defendant's striking-out application.
Successfully represented leaseholders in two contested proceedings to acquire the freeholds of their respective buildings through leasehold enfranchisement law.
Public, Administrative & Immigration Law
Acted as advocate for the Respondent in Harjang Singh v Secretary for Security and Another (2022) before the High Court and the Court of Appeal (Hong Kong)—a landmark decision establishing the leading authority on the test of reasonableness in immigration detention.
Appeared as sole advocate for the Respondent in Mohammaded Akbar v Director of Immigration (HCAL 213/15 & CACV 97/17), successfully resisting judicial review and its appeal on applications concerning dependant visa refusals.
Appeared as sole advocate in RAI RAJENDRA KUMAR v Director of Immigration (reported in [2019] 5 HKLRD 410), successfully defending the Immigration Department’s determination regarding non-genuine relationship status.
Successfully secured BN(O) visas, family/dependant visas for unmarried couples, and permanent settlement for clients with complex background issues, including prior convictions in Hong Kong or the UK.
Successfully represented individuals seeking asylum in the UK on grounds of political persecution (Hong Kong) and sexual orientation (Middle East), as well as ongoing representation for religious asylum claims for claimants from mainland China.
Employment Law
Acting as in-house legal consultant for the Defendant in Hoffman and Greenbaum v Finalto Group Limited and Gopher Investment (2026). The Claimants brought a £20m claim concerning loss of employment and associated share options; the Court rejected the claim against D2 and awarded D1 significantly reduced damages (~£2.5m).
Successfully secured a six-figure settlement for a British white client in a race discrimination claim against an employer,
Helped a Hong Kong client to obtain a high five-figure settlement for a client in a disability discrimination claim following redundancy during ill health.
